Business postChinese Water Technology Gains Ground in the Gulf
An interesting development for the Gulf infrastructure market: Chinese manufacturers are becoming increasingly important suppliers of desalination and water-treatment technology. Reuters reports that Chinese companies are exporting more filtration systems, desalination membranes and engineering solutions to water-stressed markets across the Middle East. Saudi Arabia is already part of that trend. Saudi developer ACWA Power reportedly sources around 70% of its global water equipment from China, showing how closely Chinese manufacturing capacity is becoming linked with major Gulf infrastructure projects. China exported more than $2 billion worth of water filtering and purification machinery in 2025, up roughly 25% compared with 2020. For manufacturers and suppliers, this is worth watching. Water infrastructure is becoming another area where Chinese production scale and Gulf investment demand are meeting directly.
